The zebra dartfish, scientific name Ptereleotris Zebra, is a peaceful fish. This fish has a minimum tank size of 30 gallons. Their maximum size is 4” and they can live up to 8 years. Zebra dartfish are best kept in pairs or groups. Zebra dartfish are reef safe, they will not bother coral and invertebrates. Zebra dartfish sleep in crevices in the rocks or in barnacles. They will sometimes dig a tunnel in the sand to get underneath the rock. If they get frightened they will quickly run back to their house. A tight fitting lid is recommended as dartfish will jump when frightened. The zebra dartfish is also referred to as the zebra barred dartfish, the chinese zebra goby, and the bar goby.
