The tassle filefish, scientific name Chaetodermis Penicilligerus is a peaceful fish. Their minimum tank size is 100 gallons. Tassle filefish can grow up to 1’ and can live up to 6 years. They are omnivores and should be fed frozen meaty foods such as brine or mysis shrimp. They will also eat algae sheets if present. Tassle filefish can be kept singly, in pairs or in groups if there is adequate space. Tassle filefish will eat coral and prey upon crustaceans. They will be seen swimming around the tank during the day and will hide in the rockwork to sleep at night. Tassle filefish are also referred to as leafy filefish or prickly leather jacket filefish.
