The three stripe damsel, scientific name Dascyllus Aruanus, is a semi-aggressive fish. They have a minimum tank size of 30 gallons. They can grow up to 3 ¾” and can live up to 6 years. Three stripe damsel are carnivores and should be fed small pieces of frozen food such as brine or mysis shrimp. Three stripe damsels can be kept alone, in pairs, or in groups, as long as there is adequate space and rock work provided. If there is only a pair they should be added to the tank at the same time.  Although damsels are schooling fish they often bicker so having more group members will help lessen the aggression towards each other.  Damsels are reef safe, they will not bother coral or invertebrates. Damsels will find crevices to sleep in at night and during the day can be seen swimming throughout the tank.  Three stripe damsels are also referred to as the white tailed damselfish or the humbug dascyllus.
