Peacock groupers can grow up to 2’ but never reach their full size in captivity. They can live up to 15 years.  Peacock groupers are carnivores and should be fed frozen meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, they will also eat small chunks of meaty food if it can fit in their mouth. Groupers can be trained to be hand fed. Peacock groupers should be kept singly unless there is adequate space, the groupers are the same size and introduced to the tank at the same time. Peacock groupers will not bother coral but they will go after crustaceans and fish they can fit in their mouth. Groupers prefer to stay in caves and rocks at night and will come out and swim in the front of the tank once they are comfortable.
