The black and gold damsel, scientific name Neoglyphidodon Nigroris, is a semi-aggressive fish. Their minimum tank size is 30 gallons. The black and gold damsel can grow up to 5” and can live up to 6 years. Black and gold damsels are omnivores and should be fed small pieces of frozen food such as brine or mysis shrimp. Black and gold damsels can be kept alone, in pairs or in groups, as long as there is adequate space and rock work provided. If there is only a pair they should be added to the tank at the same time. Although damsels are schooling fish they often bicker so having more group members will help lessen the aggression towards each other. Damsels are reef safe, they will not bother coral or invertebrates. Damsels will find crevices in rocks to sleep in at night and during the day can be seen swimming throughout the tank. The black and gold damsel is also called the black and gold chromis.
