The tribal blenny, scientific name Astrosalaris, is a peaceful fish. Their minimum tank size is 40 gallons and their maximum size is 5”. Tribal blennies can live up to 8 years. Tribal blennies are omnivores and will eat algae found on the glass, rocks and other parts of the tank. It will also eat frozen food such as mysis or brine shrimp. Tribal blennies should be kept singly but can be kept with other blenny species. Blennies that are similar size and shape will normally fight because of food security, housing spaces or territorial issues. Tribal blennies are reef safe and do not bother coral and invertebrates. Tribal blennies prefer to sleep in cracks and holes found in the rocks and can be seen sitting on the rocks or swimming from rock to rock during the day.
