The starry blenny, scientific name Salarius Ramosus, is a peaceful fish. Their minimum tank size is 40 gallons and their maximum size is 5 ½”. Starry blennies can live up to 6 years. Starry blennies are herbivores and will require algae present in the tank for feeding. If there is no algae present on the rocks or glass then algae should be supplemented. These blennies are known for eating hair algae in reef tanks. Starry blennies should be kept one per tank. Blennies that are similar size and shape will normally fight because of food security, housing spaces or territorial issues. Starry blennies will find a place to hide themselves in the rocks and will be seen poking their head out of the rock. Once they are more comfortable, they will be seen swimming in the tank and also sitting on the rocks. Starry blennies are also called snowflake blennies.
