The yellow mimic tang, scientific name Acanthurus Pyroferus is a semi-aggressive fish. Their minimum tank size is 100 gallons. They can grow up to 8” and can live up to 30 years. Yellow mimic tangs are herbivores they should be fed a diverse diet of algae including pellets and nori sheets. Yellow mimic tangs can live alone, in pairs or in groups as long as there is adequate space. Yellow mimic tangs can be kept with other tangs as well. Yellow mimic tangs are reef safe, they will not bother coral or invertebrates. During the day the tang will be seen swimming through the tank grazing algae and at night they will sleep close to the rocks. Yellow mimic tangs take their appearance after the lemon peel angelfish. The yellow mimic will change its appearance from a juvenile to an adult.
