The banded sleeper goby, scientific name Amblygobius Phalaena, is a peaceful fish. Their minimum tank size is 40 gallons. Banded sleeper gobies can grow up to 6” and can live up to 15 years. Banded sleeper gobies are omnivores and should be fed small pieces of frozen food such as brine shrimp, they will also pick at algae sheets if available. Sleeper gobies will pick sand up, clean and sift the sand through their gills back into the tank. Banded sleeper gobies can be kept singly or in pairs, if kept in pairs they should be introduced to the tank at the same time.  Banded sleeper gobies are reef safe and will not bother coral or invertebrates. Banded sleeper gobies will be seen swimming throughout the tank throughout the day and will find caves to sleep in at night. The banded sleeper goby is also referred to as the bullet goby, the rocket goby, and the brownbarred goby.
