The cardinal pajama, scientific name Sphaeramia Nematoptera, is a peaceful fish. Their minimum tank size is 20 gallons. The cardinal pajama has a maximum size of 3 ½” and can live up to 5 years. Pajama cardinals are carnivores and should be fed small pieces of frozen food such as mysis or brine shrimp. Cardinals are schooling fish. It is possible to keep them alone, in pairs, or in groups. As long as there is adequate space keeping an odd or even number will not matter for these fish. Pajama cardinals are reef safe, they will not bother coral or invertebrates. Pajama cardinals are often seen sitting still in the water. Cardinals are nocturnal and will be more active in the evening and throughout the night.
