It is common misinformation that preparing a tank takes a long time. The process of “cycling” can be done in a few hours if rushed or by the next day to be sure.

Bacterias are very capable organisms. They are quite efficient and explosively replicate under ideal living conditions. It is possible to populate and in turn be ready to house animals by running the system for 24 hours, using a beneficial bacteria product.
As I browse other forums and discussion databases online, I find that some people admit to waiting weeks or even months to put animals into a tank. This can cause issues such as algae to become a problem before they are even able to enjoy their tank. Everybody is entitled to their opinions and are able to listen to the advice of anybody they choose.
But you need to know that not everybody knows what they are talking about. Not everything that is being done is necessary. Simplicity in my experience often yields better success.
Just because somebody else did it does not mean it is the right thing for you. Enjoy!
