The black brittle starfish is a common species often seen in the hobby. It’s scientific name is Ophiocoma Erinaceus. This starfish comes from the Ophiocomidae family. They can reach up to 5” and live up to 5 years. Brittle starfish are omnivores that will benefit from direct feeding, any type of meaty food can be given. Their minimum tank size is 30 gallons. Brittle starfish are peaceful and are reef safe. They are nocturnal and like to hide underneath the rocks during the day.
