Spiny Astraea Snails have a distinct star or pointed pattern to their shell, and are quite common in the aquarium hobby. Their scientific name is Astraea Phoebia but they are often referred to as the Spiny Astraea or Spiny Star snail. They are from the Astraeinae Family. Spiny Astraea snails can grow up to 1” and have a lifespan of up to 5 years. These snails are herbivores and are known for eating hair algae. Their minimum tank size is 5 gallons. These snails are peaceful and are coral and invertebrate safe. They prefer to stay on the glass and rocks and should be flipped if they are seen upside down.
