Their scientific name is Vittina Waigiensis but they are often referred to as red nerite snails or red racer snails. Nerite snails are a part of the Neritidae family. Their maximum size is 1” and they can live up to 10 years! These small herbivores love to eat algae off the glass of your tank. Their minimum tank size is 5 gallons. These snails are extremely peaceful and are both coral and invertebrate safe. Nerite snails will most often be seen on the glass or on rocks underneath corals. These snails should be flipped if seen upside down.
