The icon starfish is a rare type of starfish not often seen in the hobby. Its scientific name is Iconaster Longimanus but it is often called the Icon starfish, or the double sea star. This starfish comes from the Goniasteridae family. Its maximum size is 4” and it can live up to 35 years. Icon starfish do not require direct feedings, they are omnivores that will scavenge food from the rocks, water column, and sand. Icon starfish have a minimum tank size of 20 gallons, they are peaceful and are both coral and invertebrate safe. These starfish prefer to stay on the rocks and the sand. Starfish are regenerative and will grow back an arm if it is lost.
