The Fuzzy Mushroom is actually considered a Rhodactis Indosinensis but is often referred to as a green hairy mushroom or hairy mushroom. Mushrooms are a soft coral that are considered one of the easiest and hardiest in the aquarium trade. They are peaceful and should be placed in the lower to middle sections of your tank. Mushroom corals will benefit from a low to moderate light and water flow setting.

Mushroom corals can be manipulated to change their shape by changing the amount of light they receive; less light will promote a more cone shape while an excessive amount of light will cause them to flatten. Over time the mushroom will move itself on its rock leaving a small piece of it’s foot behind, creating a new mushroom. Large colonies of mushrooms can get detritus built up in between them and therefore should be blasted with water movement (or a turkey baster) every now and then.
