The durgon triggerfish, scientific name Melichthys Niger is an aggressive fish. Their minimum tank size is 120 gallons. Durgon triggerfish can grow up to 1’ 2” and can live up to 11 years. Triggerfish are carnivores and should be fed frozen meaty foods such as mysis shrimp. They can also be given small pieces of squid, clam, and other types of raw seafood. Durgon triggerfish should be kept singly as they will become territorial with other durgon triggers. They can be kept with other triggerfish as long as there is adequate space. Triggerfish will not bother coral but they will prey upon invertebrates. Triggerfish will hide in the rocks at night and will swim throughout the tank during the day.
