Banded catsharks are carnivores and should be fed with different types of raw seafood such as clams, shrimp, small pieces of squid, etc. Banded catshark can be kept alone or in mated pairs and can be kept with other sharks as long as there is adequate space, rockwork and food. Banded catsharks will not bother coral but they will eat invertebrates. They may also prey upon slower smaller fish. They should be kept with larger and more active fish such as angels and tangs. They will sleep in caves in the rockwork during the day and hunt during the night. The banded catshark is also referred to as the black banded bamboo shark or the brown banded bamboo shark.
