Tube Anemones are similar to sea anemones but they have slightly different care requirements. Tube Anemones are used to burying themselves into soft substrate and therefore should be placed on the bottom of the tank buried in the sand with its “head” sticking out. When they feel threatened, they will retreat into their tube. One other main difference from tube anemones and the average sea anemone is that they are not photo-synthetic, which means any type of lighting will work for these anemones, they will require direct feeding instead of specific lighting. Direct feeding can be done with tongs (or your fingers) and any type of meaty food and should be done one to twice a week minimum. The size of the anemone should determine the size of food and how often it is fed. These anemones do not have the capability to split themselves into two no matter how much they are directly fed, they will only grow in size.
Minimum tank size for tube anemones should be 20 gallons. These anemones are considered easy to take care of. They are still considered aggressive as they will sting and hurt some corals and fish/invertebrates. They can receive any type of lighting and should get a low to moderate water flow. They are fluorescent pink and green. Although they are considered aggressive they are still coral and invertebrate safe, tube anemones should be placed far enough not to reach any coral as their tentacles will extend longer in the night.
